Church Store - Austin Zimmer Pottery
Bolton Congregational Church
228 Bolton Center Road, Bolton, CT 06043

We have had several pieces of pottery by Austin Zimmer donated to our Church Store. Austin Zimmer is the owner of ZimmerClayWorks, and his shop can be found on Etsy and Facebook where you can see all of his new pieces, his show schedule, and many comments from people who have purchased his unusual and beautiful pottery.

According to our research, Austin Zimmer was raised in Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific. He has traveled, studied or lived in Australia, England, France, and much of the U.S. He currently lives year-round in Mystic, Connecticut.

All of his artwork is sold as one-of-a-kind. Similar pieces can be combined to make sets. All pieces are unique and naturally vary. He does no mass productions and no special orders. All of his pieces are signed.

All of his pottery is made of 100% porcelain and is fired at a very high temperature which helps to make it very durable.  All utilitarian pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe, and all glazes are certified as food safe.

These pieces are available for purchase at the store itself, or they may be purchased by contacting Lynn at 860.643.6788 or via email: BCC.chrchstr@gmail.com. Please note that we ship to U.S. destinations only.

Austin Zimmer Vase
, signed. This vase is very different and quite beautiful. It is 7" tall, the opening at the top is 3" and the base measures 4". The main body and base of the vase are dark blue with light blue swirls. The neck is scalloped and a golden brown with dark brown lines ending at the body, where the lines touch the body there is a dot of metallic glaze. The interior of the vase is glazed. There appeared to be a chip on one of the scalloped edges on the mouth of the vase but on further examination, it looks to have been done before it was glazed as this area does have glaze and the porcelain is just quite thin in this particular area. With the types of glazes and shapes that Mr. Zimmer uses, it does not seem that this would detract from the piece and if even noticeable might enhance it. Original price on the base is $38. This may have been one of his older pieces; newer examples have been found selling for around $58. OUR PRICE $22.

Austin Zimmer Dish. Ruffled edge dish. 6 " x 1", has many uses.  The rim is a greenish brown color with black swirls the base is a rosy red, the rim is the same on the reverse, the base on the reverse is not glazed. Hand-thrown. Food, dishwasher and microwave safe. Original price $42. OUR PRICE $20.
